The Director General of Corrections at the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections, Mashudi, said that remission, or a reduction in sentence, is the right of all prisoners sentenced to prison/imprisonment without exception.
Mashudi explained that regardless of the type of crime they committed, all eligible inmates are entitled to remission.
"Remission is given to all inmates without exception, whether they are convicted of corruption or terrorism. We grant it. We do not grant it to those sentenced to death or life imprisonment.
