Naucalpan, August 3. Organizers of the first Bandemia festival, which was canceled at Sala Urbana in Naucalpan and where a brawl broke out between the audience and the venue's security personnel , reported that there was no overbooking of tickets and stated that access was restricted on the recommendation of Civil Protection, which sparked the riots.
The festival organizers issued their position in two statements after the August 2 riots, in which Sala Urbana security personnel sprayed festivalgoers with fire extinguishers outside the venue who were trying to enter with tickets.
In the letter, the organizers expressed regret for the events that led to the festival's cancellation and maintained that, according to contract, the venue's capacity was 2,500 people and there had never been overbooking.
However, he noted that when approximately 1,700 people entered, the site decided to close its doors without consulting them or prior notice.
"The violence on the part of the venue's security is 100 percent unrelated to the team and our organization. We regret what happened, and those affected can request a refund," the statement said.
In a previous statement, the organizers indicated that, following a direct recommendation from Civil Protection and with the aim of safeguarding the safety of attendees, the decision was made to restrict access to the event.
"This means that, unfortunately, people who purchased tickets outside the permitted capacity will not be able to enter the event. We know this news is very difficult, but the priority is always to ensure the physical safety of the audience, artists, and staff."
