With the goal of transforming the Mexican economy from the twelfth to the tenth largest economy in the world, reducing poverty levels, President Claudia Sheinbaum announced Plan Mexico. She noted that so far, $277 billion has been identified from companies interested in establishing themselves in Mexico.
“We are working extensively, based on the Mexico Plan, to determine the portfolio of domestic and foreign investments. We have identified $277 billion in investments that are expected to come to Mexico. The plan would identify the specific companies, how they will be established and where, with what benefits and incentives, in nearly 2,000 registered projects,” Sheinbaum said.
Beyond the six-year term
At the National Museum of Anthropology and History, in the presence of prominent business leaders and virtually her entire cabinet, the president announced that this project aims to provide strategic planning beyond her six-year term so that Mexico can consolidate its position in the global economy.
Its specific medium- and long-term objectives include establishing a regional and national vision for North America, promoting business relocation, increasing the regional and national content of products in North America, expanding value chains, relaunching the Made in Mexico program, creating well-paid jobs in manufacturing and services, and promoting reindustrialization, strengthening national industry, increasing local supply, and promoting regional development centers, starting with centers of well-being. The vision is to develop them.
Sheinbaum said that Mexico is moving from a vision of regional markets to value chains and national plans. The intention is for all sectors to join in this goal of growth and well-being to achieve sustainable, equitable economic development that supports the well-being of the people.
