Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid emphasized that the government is committed to preparing regulations that can protect the younger generation from the potential negative impacts of digitalization, including the development of artificial intelligence (AI), which risks reducing job opportunities.
"Let us, as regulators, think about what regulations should be created to protect our young people as digitalization advances at breakneck speed," Meutya said at the 2025 Introduction to Academic and Student Culture event at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University in Ciputat, South Tangerang.
According to Meutya, it is undeniable that digitalization and the rapid development of AI will erode a number of conventional jobs, even leading to layoffs in several employment sectors.
