Mexico City, October 9.- The National Water Commission (Conagua) reported that the probability of the low pressure zone in the Pacific Ocean developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours has increased to 90 percent, "so extreme precautions should be taken." This afternoon, it is located 430 kilometers south of Puerto Ángel, Oaxaca.
For this Saturday, the National Meteorological Service ( SMN ) forecast very heavy rains in Chiapas, Guerrero, and Oaxaca; heavy rains in parts of the State of Mexico, Michoacán, Puebla, and Veracruz ; showers in parts of Campeche, Mexico City, Colima, Jalisco, Morelos, Nayarit, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, and Yucatán; and scattered showers in parts of Guanajuato and Tlaxcala.
In most of the aforementioned states, rainfall could include lightning and strong winds . Possible hail conditions are forecast in Chiapas, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Puebla, and Veracruz.
The rains could cause landslides, rising river and stream levels, and flooding in low-lying areas . Therefore, residents of the aforementioned states are urged to heed the warnings issued by the National Meteorological Service (SMN) and follow the instructions of state, municipal, and Civil Protection authorities.
Finally, wind gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour are expected in Baja California , Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Coahuila, and Sonora.
