Nuevo León, August 1. Ricardo Flores Suárez, legal director of the Nuevo León Congress, was shot and killed on a soccer field in the municipality of San Nicolás de los Garza; two other people were injured in the attack.

According to initial police reports, around 11:17 p.m., a group of armed men stormed the courts, where witnesses of the attack reported hearing at least 10 gunshots and seeing the gunmen speed away in a car.
"At first we thought they were rockets," said a woman at the scene, "but then we saw someone fall and that's when everyone started running."
The 45-year-old lawyer by profession was a member of the National Action Party (PAN) since 2002 and served twice as a federal deputy for that party. He also held positions in the municipality of San Nicolás.
