The US withdraws the visa of the mayor of Nogales, Sonora.

Tijuana, August 7. The mayor of Nogales, Sonora, Juan Francisco Gim Nogales, confirmed that the United States government revoked his nonimmigrant visa; he clarified that it was an administrative matter, so "I remain calm and have a clear conscience because I have not been accused of anything improper."

In a video published on his X account, he stated that he showed his face to respond to the population that on two occasions gave him their trust, in reference to the reelection he achieved in 2024 representing the Let's Keep Making History alliance formed by the Morena, PT, Verde and Panal parties.

"Today I want to speak to you with absolute transparency about the situation surrounding my visa. Indeed, the United States government has taken action regarding my immigration status, which I respect," he stated.

He expressed his confidence that "time will prove me right; this isn't a hunt or a scandal; it's an administrative process that I'm approaching responsibly and respectfully."

The withdrawal of the Morena mayor's border document came almost three months after Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda announced that the U.S. government had canceled her visa, as well as that of her husband, Carlos Torres Torres.

The Baja California governor asserted that it was an administrative measure, and the U.S. government has, on its own, kept the case confidential, arguing that it is a confidential matter.
