Tijuana, February 27. The National Guard (GN) set up a camp on one side of the border zone in the Nido de las Águilas neighborhood , where there is a section without a wall that has long been used by organized crime for the irregular crossing of people into the United States.
Four tents were set up at a strategic location, where approximately 20 National Guard troops will be deployed to combat arms trafficking, fentanyl trafficking, and migrant crossings.
Laureano Carrillo Rodríguez, head of the Ministry of Citizen Security, mentioned that these actions are part of Operation Northern Border, agreed upon by the governments of Mexico and the United States.
He indicated that there are 3,100 National Guard troops deployed on the Baja California border with the United States , in addition to 4,800 members of the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena).
He noted that they recently seized 400 kilograms of marijuana at one of the border crossings into the United States and have managed to reduce the presence of migrants at the border.
