Tijuana. May 20, 2022.- The State Commissioner for Protection against Sanitary Risks of Baja California (Coepris BC), Erwin Areizaga Uribe, presented the health regulations for clinical analysis laboratories in the presence of members of the College of Pharmaceutical Chemists and Biologists of Tijuana.
During the explanation, he addressed the most relevant topics, such as the operating notice and health license required by these establishments, as well as the Mexican Official Standards (NOM) that govern them. He invited them to create a social media group to address their questions, suggestions, and complaints.
Areizaga Uribe pointed out that before a verification by this authority, personnel must wear their identification badge visible at all times, in addition to the duly completed report with the signature of the Head of the corresponding Regional Unit, in this case, for the metropolitan area it is Mr. Miguel Méndez Machuca. If this is not the procedure, it is requested that it be reported through the group or through the collegiate body.
Among the main NOMs are 005 SSA 2018 regarding the infrastructure and medical requirements for the care of a patient on an outpatient basis, that is, one who does not remain hospitalized for care, as well as NOM 007 SSA 2011, which provides specifications for the organization of a clinical laboratory.
NOM 087 establishes guidelines for the management and treatment of both hazardous waste, such as chemicals or materials for sample analysis, and infectious biological waste, such as tissue or blood, which must be deposited in specific containers and a company must be hired for their destruction.
The State Commissioner reiterated his commitment to joining forces to ensure good medical practice, prevent extortion by inspectors, and, if applicable, act accordingly. He therefore requested that any such situation be reported
