The Ensenada City Council lost a lawsuit that lasted more than five years against the company Iberparking, meaning the municipal government will have to accept the installation of 3,500 parking meters in the downtown area or pay the company millions in compensation.
Manuel Pérez Gallegos, representative of the aforementioned company, reported and presented the Amparo resolution, which gives Iberparking the definitive legal victory to enforce the contract signed in February 2019 by the then XXII Ensenada City Council.
In February 2019, the Ensenada City Council approved signing the agreement with the company. However, a month later, Marco Antonio Novelo Osuna, then mayor, decided to cancel it, arguing that it was harmful to the community and the public interest.
This initiated a dispute in which Iberparking first filed an appeal before a district judge, then the municipal government, during the Armando Ayala Robles administration, filed a challenge before the Baja California Administrative Court of Justice, and the TEJA ruled in favor of the municipal government.
