Mexicali, February 21. The owner of the Águilas de Mexicali Club, Dio Murillo, announced that they are in talks with the State Government to analyze renovations to the "Nido" stadium - which he occupies under loan - planned for the Caribbean Series, which will take place in 2025.
Previously, Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda announced that a budget of 50 million pesos is planned for renovations to the Caribbean Series venue, a state-owned property.
Dio Murillo explained that an increase in the seating area is expected, however, he explained that they have limitations in the Center and Right Fields because they no longer have room to grow.
They are analyzing what is most convenient to do and how to ensure the most comfortable and safe capacity for those who can attend, he said.
Murillo noted that an application is being considered, although he is not yet aware of it due to the limitations of the terrain.
"We have a major problem both on the side facing the neighborhood and the back. We have to play around a bit with the left-center portion, and we can't go too far on the right either because of the street," he noted.
Dio Murillo said he is very excited that the Caribbean Series is returning to Mexicali because several countries have requested the hosting rights.
