The Boston Celtics sent star forward Jayson Tatum to his G League affiliate, the Maine Celtics, for training sessions as part of his recovery from a right Achilles injury.
The NBA website stated Tuesday that the six-time All-Star would be called back to the first team after training with the Maine Celtics.
The move was made to help Tatum increase the intensity of his training while continuing the rehabilitation program that has been underway for the past few months.
Tatum did not appear throughout the 2025-2026 NBA season after suffering an Achilles tear during the 2024-2025 NBA playoffs.
The injury forced him to undergo a lengthy recovery and left the Celtics without one of their main pillars on the front line.
The 27-year-old has reached the five-a-side training stage, which is a key indicator in his return to competitive action.
